Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2014
Founded in 2004, the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (RMAF) is celebrating its eleventh anniversary this year in Denver, Colorado. This year’s show will be held at the Denver Marriott Tech Center from the 10thtill the 12th of October. Attendees are music lovers, audiophiles, videophiles, students, press, industry folks and more. The show is a great place to audition new componentry, speakers and everything HiFi related. In addition to the many listening rooms available for demo, the show offers seminars, some of which are participatory in nature, allowing the audience to ask questions and receive invaluable answers from industry experts. Among the manufacturers exhibiting this year are Accuphase, Aesthetix, Air Tight, Audio Note UK, Audio Research, Audioquest, Ayre Acoustics, Bang & Olufsen, Bel Canto, Bergmann Audio, Boulder, Brinkmann, Cardas Audio, Cary Audio, EMM Labs, Esoteric, Focal, German Physiks, Goldmund, HRS, Kimber Kable, MSB Technology, Pass Laboratories, VAC, Vandersteen, Wavelength and many more!
RMAF is the most important and well-attended consumer show in North America, welcoming 3,500 visitors from over thirty countries and forty-nine states. With nine floors of exhibitor rooms, totaling over 160, it is also the largest. Navigating the show is as easy as downloading an app or consulting the online directory.
If you’re in an old fashioned mood, you may also pick up a map along with your visitor pass, at the registration desk. Nearby in the lobby area you can shuffle through magazines, parts, audio furniture and miscellaneous vendors. Vinyl, CDs, and various audiophile paraphernalia can be found in Evergreen Ballrooms B & C.
The show’s primary purpose is to showcase the latest and greatest equipment that each manufacture exhibiting has to offer. Attendees are encouraged to sit down and juxtapose the variety of sonic variations they will experience from room to room. For those who want to take the memory with them, cameras are permitted, however exhibitors reserve the right to refuse photographing specific equipment that may be prototype or otherwise. Food and beverages are readily available at the Marriott’s Front Range Trading Post, the Lift Restaurant & Lounge, or the in-house Starbucks. Children and spouses are welcome to join you in the experience and if you miss any of the seminars, there is a youtube channel with a full history, which you can find here. Whatever you do, don’t forget to enjoy the music!
